This piece is my first attempt at carving this particular style of oak leaf. The leaf style is a slightly abstract ("stylized") rendering of an oak leaf I first saw in The Mighty Oak. I created the design to fit on a 6"x6" tile that will eventually be framed and hung on one of my walls with 3 other leaf designs I'm working on to make a series. All the coloring was done with the new water-based dyes, applied with an artist brush, and the finish was done with an antique stain that was thinned with tan-kote for a very light staining/antiquing effect. ~Kate
